Sándor Bánszky (1888-1918) Bending Figure

About the Item

Sándor Bánszky (Szeged, February 11, 1888 – Villefranche-de-Rouergue, 1918). Bánszky, an orphan supported by the Szeged Orphan's Court, studied in Székelyudvarhely and worked at the Zsolnay factory. A graduate of the Budapest School of Applied Arts under Géza Maróti and Lajos Mátrai, he received several accolades and government grants that allowed him to study in Vienna and Italy. In 1913, he moved to Paris to immerse himself in modern art movements. His studio on rue Vaugirard was a hub for artists and intellectuals. Bánszky exhibited successfully but his career was cut short by WWI. Interned in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, he continued creating art until his untimely death in 1918. His works are noted for their constructive, geometric design. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own a piece by Bánszky, a true talent of early 20th-century Hungarian art.
