About the Item

Sculpture of still life in Murano glass, constructed using the technique of blown and applied glass with intricate detailed poly chrome pieces of fruit in a glass bowl is made by Artisti Barovier (1890-1919) circa 1919. Each piece of fruit has its own colou and texture as realistic as possible in glass. In 1884 Giovanni Barovier and his nephews Giuseppe, Benvenuto and Benedetto, glass masters, acquired ownership of the Salviati furnace, founded in 1877, after Salviati Dott’s departure. The company was renamed Artisti Barovier in 1896 the glassworks was established and undertook fruitful period of advance innovation and significant developments in the art and craft of glass production.
