Antique Carved Marble Armorial Panel
About the Item
Antique carved marble armorial panel. A Polish Coat of Arms. Wonderfully detailed and presented on Carrara Marble with scrolling and imagery.
The design of the plaque holds a legendary history dating back to the 11th century. The soldier depicted (Godziemba) can be seen brandishing a young Pine tree. This was in order to defend himself against the Moravians during a skirmish. To commemorate the noble deed, Godziemba received a coat of arms with his heroic image displayed onto the crest.
