Dating to circa 1860, the vivid blue glaze accompanied by the bright white emphasises the intriguing scene displayed on this impressive 6-inch tile. The subtle timeworn look adds character and charm. Displayed on a custom made steel stand, its beauty can be admired up close in any period property looking to appreciate 19th century religious designs. Saint Michael St Michael is known as a spiritual warrior in the battle of good versus evil; considered a champion of justice, a healer of the sick, and the guardian of the church. In art this archangel is depicted with a sword vanquishing satan in the form of a dragon, much like in this vibrant depiction.
