An Austrian cold painted bronze study of a drake mallard duck drinking
This fine bronze study of drake mallard duck was produced in Austria, circa 1930. It is very well modelled and finely hand painted it retains all of its original paint in rich natural colours. It is mounted onto a circular onyx plinth that has a carved dish which represents the small pool of water from where he is drinking. The original purpose of this delightful piece would have been as a ring tray for a dressing table for which it could still be used or just as a most appealing decorative item to be enjoyed. It is in superb original condition, circa 1930
