About the Item

This beautiful pair of majolica wall plates would elevate any living room, kitchen, or dining room wall. Created in Italy circa 1980 and done in the Capodimonte style with high relief, each barbotine plate depicts a group relaxing in the central medallion, surrounded by dense foliage and trees. One platter features a group of five figures consisting of both adults and children recline under two birds perched in a tree with a young wolf lying at their feet. The second depicts a similar group reclining under a tree with a large wolf and a small river in the background. Both plates are set in an ornate white border, decorated with floral and vine motifs and embossed with gilt accents. The plates are marked on the back "Capodimonte, Made in Italy, "Bernini", 596". The very detailed decorative chinoiserie pieces are in excellent condition with rich colors. Measures: 14" diameter x 1.5" height.
