This captivating antique Chinese scholar stone, estimated to be from the late 19th century, evokes a sense of tranquility and inspires contemplation. The "spirited stone," resembling a majestic mountain peak, features a harmonious form and a weathered surface adorned with grottoes of various sizes, some even connecting in intriguing loops.
Nature's artistry is evident in the ocher hues, interspersed with delicate patches of pink and white. These stones, eroded by the waters of Taihu Lake, have captivated Chinese scholars since the Tang Dynasty.
