Extremely Large Megalodon Shark Tooth



This exceedingly large serrated tooth would have once lined the mouth of a big Megalodon shark (Carcharocles megalodon). It is extremely well preserved, intact with no restorations and has a beautiful, glossy enamel. The mightiest and most terrifying marine predator of all times, Megalodon may have been up to 60 feet long (18.30 meters) and could have weighed up to 60 tonnes. Its bite is considered the most powerful of any animal, alive or extinct. lndeed, its name means “big tooth” and it was capable of biting clean through the head of large whales. Its closest relative today is the mako shark, which in comparison grows up to be “only” 14 feet or 4.30 meters long. Height on stand: 6 inches (15.2 cm) Provenance: Found by scuba divers, Battery Creek, South Carolina, USA.
