About the Item
De Marchi was born in Venice, Italy. Even as a child, he expressed an interest in sculpture and showed a talent for working in the Venetian tradition of ornamental sculpture. He went on to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice.
It was during his time at the Academy that his skills really began to show, first working in marble, then bronze before ultimately settling on wood as his preferred medium.
