Large 19th Century European Cut Glass Chemist Carboy

About the Item

A large antique glass chemists advertising carboy. A beautiful & exceptionally rare chemist's carboy, hand blown in thick glass, on an ebonised oak stand & finished with a large wheel cut star to the front, a representation of the pharmaceutical cross. An extremely hard-to-find piece, uncovered just outside of Paris & once filled with colourful liquid & graced a chemist window as part of an eye catching advertising display. French, late 19th century Wear commensurate with age, unrestored, very good overall. The interior has some expected marking to the base which will likely disappear once it is filled. The top section would originally have been sealed with a cork once filled. Height measurement includes stand & neck (46cm in height without stand).
