About the Item
An antique Japanese Ando Jubei cloisonne rounded jar from the Meiji period. The vase is decorated with foliate image with butterflies. It features a fitted lid with a decorative finial. The rim of the vase and the base of the lid are lined with a silver-colored band. Marked with a makers mark to the base. The silver base mount is hallmarked with a silver mark. Circa the early 20th century. Ando Jubei, 1876 to 1953, was one of the most important cloisonne artists in Japan and was highly acclaimed for his artistry and refined work.
