Antique Japanese earthenware jars in rare colors/1600 or later/Flower vase

About the Item

This is an old Japanese earthenware jar. The shape is typical of an earthenware jar, but its greatest attraction is the color of the surface. This jar was probably fired using a method similar to "Noyaki" (a method of firing jars by lining them in a depression in the ground), so it is not glazed, and the black parts are like this because carbon has been absorbed, while the red parts show the original color of the earth. It gives the impression of being in a world of ink painting, with a vague black smoke all over, swaying and moving. It looks very cool when displayed as is, but it is also attractive to put flowers in it and use it as a vase. You can see that during the shaping stage of the jar, the surface was smoothed and polished with something like a spatula or cloth. As a result, the surface has a subtle sheen and an elegant atmosphere. This jar also has a slightly unique structure, and as explained earlier, it is pottery that was fired using the "Noyaki" firing method. This means that it was fired at a low temperature. This firing method was used up until around the 12th century, when the technology for firing in kilns was not yet developed, but the shape of this jar itself is from the 16th to early 17th century. In other words, it is likely that people from the 17th century onwards reproduced the firing method of the older era. For this reason, we estimate it to be from around 1600-1912 (Edo period to Taisho period). Also, the area circled in red has very fine cracks, but there is no need to worry about it breaking. There is also a small hole in the shoulder, so please see the detailed image. Although it is an excavated item, there are no major defects or signs of repair, and it is in good condition. This is a very unique and rare item. It will add an attractive touch to any space. Weight: 6.2 kg [We, Brood, are a company consisting of four different stores with four different brands. We offer a wide range of attractive items from all over the world with a focus on Japanese items. We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad. These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past. They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste. The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses. We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations. And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far. We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here. We can do this because of our long experience. We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]
