About the Item

Round lidded jar in frosted glass designed by Julien Viard (1883-1938). This a very nice decorative lidded jar created in Paris France during the art deco period by Julien Viard, back in the 1920's. The jar has been crafted in an octagonal shape on a round base in frosted glass and decorated with embossed motifs of flowers and birds. The eight squared side panels are decorated with different birds accented with gold and fitted on top with a round lid. Julien Viard He was the designer of hundreds of perfume bottles during the 1920s. Julien Viard received his training, first in bronze work, from Antonin Mercié and then from his father, the sculptor Clovis Viard. The latter was associated with the Parisian establishments Leblanc-Barbedienne, a renowned foundryman. Country: Paris, France. Period: Art-deco, 1920-1925 Weight: 344.95 Grams, (0.35 Kg.). Measurements: 58 mm by 97 mm by 97 mm (2.30 x 3.82 x 3.82 Inches). Hallmarks: Signed at the bottom part with the maker's mark in raised molded as follows, "J. VIARD MADE IN FRANCE". Condition: The overall condition of this Julien Viard lidded jar is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold and all parts are secured in the settings.
