Vintage Moroccan Tamgroute Green Olive Jar with Handles
Located in Moreno Valley, CA
Moroccan Tamgroute vintage, 1960's green olive jar with handles, or planter. Handcrafted by the Berber people in Tamgroute Morocco. Great glazed earthenware with different hues of green and black. A pair is available, slightly different glaze Top diameter is 10" inside opening is 7" D. Jar is 38" H x 20" D in the widest part. Wonderful green and brown shimmering that can be found only in south Morocco in the village of Tamgroute. The color and texture is a result of the particular alchemy created by the potters of Tamegroute and remains a family affair handed down through the generations. Each pottery piece is completely unique and no two are ever the same. Please note that the traditional method in which the plates are fired involves stacking which result in tiny ‘scars’ inside the plate and in the glaze making, each bowl is unique the beauty is found in the imperfection of each piece. Tamegroute pottery are true showpieces showing that even imperfect can be perfect. Tamegroute remains the only rural pottery in Morocco using oxidized copper which creates its famous green color. Its potteries are also the only location where you will find their unique forms. The process however remains much the same. Clay is dug up from the local Draa river banks, thrown by hand & fired inkilns built into steep slopes using a single firing. Vintage green glazed pottery...

Sırlı Küp (Turkish Glazed Jar - Medium)
Located in Ojai, US
This medium glazed and limewashed küp was likely used to store cheese by generations of families in the Levant. The design is similar to jugs used to carry water, wine, or other liquids (as cheese is traditionally stored in its brine). Glazing and lime-washing are techniques that has been used for centuries by Anatolian ceramicists to refresh, seal, and protect a clay vessel. Cheese is a staple in most Turkish breakfasts today, with a fascinating history springing from the Fertile Crescent: the region of Southwest Asia that includes portions of present-day Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. Around 8000 BCE, the first humans to keep livestock began firing pottery that could store dairy products in the warm climate. In this process, they discovered that they could use ceramic strainers...

Two Small Copper Jugs With Wavy Mouths
Located in Lisboa, Lisboa
This pair of small copper jugs showcases a simple yet elegant design, highlighted by their distinctive wavy mouths, adding a touch of fluidity and charm. One jug features a prominent groove around its rounded belly, providing a decorative accent and a sense of division in its design. The other jug maintains a smooth, uninterrupted surface, emphasizing its minimalist aesthetic. Both jugs rest on circular bases, giving them stability and a classic, timeless form. The natural patina and slight tarnishing on the copper surface lend them an authentic, rustic appearance. Minor defects, such as surface scratches, dents, and signs of wear, are present, adding character and reflecting their age and use. These jugs are perfect for collectors of vintage copperware...
