Early 20th Century Chinese Low Round Mill Stone

About

This millstone was hand-carved over 100 years ago in Northern China out of a single block of limestone. It shows signs of wear that add wonderful character and attest to its age and use—grinding rice or other grains. China is famous for its beautiful rice terraces; on rainy days steam from the nearby rivers shrouds the rice terraces in layers of mist. Each mill stone has been drilled with a drainage hole and varies slightly.
