About the Item

Early 19th century Georgian Brass-Bound Mahogany Peat Bucket With Liner. These buckets were used for storing and transporting peat, a fuel source. Bucket features a navette form, mahogany staves, and is bound with brass bands. Has a brass top handle and metal liner to protect the wood and prevent it from becoming damaged by the peat. This bucket is an excellent example of Georgian craftmanship, with this practical utility and elegant design. Bucket would look lovely in a prominent spot neat an entryway or next to a fireplace as a statement piece, or styled as a decorative planter for a large, tall plant. It can also be used as for storage in a any room, including placing blankets, pillows, or towels inside for practicality and style.
