Antique & Stunningly Hand Carved Walnut Wooden Planter / Bucket with Brass Liner
Located in Lisse, NL
Very stylish and incredible workmanship, late 1800s 'tea-bucket' on claw feet. For a stylish, beautiful and practical antique like this there is always room in your home. Like you may already know, we have been selling antiques for over 30 years and one of the reasons why our hobby-turned-profession-job remains so interesting is, because we keep finding antiques that we have never seen before. Ofcourse we have seen antique tea-buckets before, but never one made of this beautiful, solid nutwood and never one as richly hand-carved as this late 1800s specimen. Owning and using a tea-bucket in the 1800s was only for the wealthiest of Europeans, but having one as intricate as this would also make it a statement piece. From top to bottom this top quality antique is handcarved and decorated with perfect neoclassical style elements like the perfect claw feet, the cannelures and the amazing guirlandes. What makes the guirlandes extra amazing is the fact that they were not carved out of one piece (that would have been much easier). If you look at the wooden inside of this bucket then you will be able to see the many sections out of which the body of this bucket was made. In this day and age most people have no idea how incredibly difficult and time consuming it was to create such a body. The movable brass handle on top and the top quality, handcrafted brass liner inside this bucket are like the icing on the cake of this one of a kind antique. It stands as strong and stabile as the day it left the artisan's studio, almost 150 years ago. Apart from some of the wooden 'beads' missing in the rim just below the carved guirlandes, this musuem quality antique also is in museum worthy condition. So no matter where you decide to use it for and no matter where you decide to have it on display, this antique work of beauty will never fail to impress. If you like this antique eye...
