About the Item

Sourced in a sumptuous Roman villa, never before seen on the antiques market, these Italian large scale Louis XIV urn vases originally used as enormous palm holders exude royalty, a hallmark of the majestic splendor of the 17th and 18th century furnishings. The water gold leaves gilding is simply spectacular, the matt white lacquering has taken on wonderful shades over the centuries of original patina. Entirely hand-carved in the round, they are architectural or sculptural decorative elements that will take your breath away both for their quality and their absolutely rare dimensions. The upper part of the urn is carved with a high relief featuring the egg and dart motif, further down a gold cartouche contains the monogram of the family of origin (D.LGF). The sinuously sculpted body of the urn bears two handles entirely sculpted in a curl with scrolls, flowers and fruit. The gilding is exceptional and perfectly preserved. Huge golden acanthus leaves spread from the stem, the stem takes up the egg and dart molding pattern and rests on a square base lacquered in faux gray marble. At the top there is still the hole that was used to insert the palms into these large urn vases. Today it can be useful if you want to electrify them and turning the vases into one of a kind lamps. These urns are made up of 3 pieces for better and safer transport and simple assembly. Columns not included but for sale separately. Measures: H. 115, W. 70, base 50x50 cm

By Carlo Ginori
Located in Firenze, IT
This truly exceptional and rare antique early 19th century Ginori two handles hand-painted porcelain vase is inspired by those that the Medici, Florence's ruling family during the Renaissance, used to put in their homes, gardens and courtyards. The white porcelain background is richly decorated in the round with royal blue and 24-karat parcel-gilt details throughout. A large, completely gilded band decorates the upper and lower part of the vase that features two white and gold fluted handles each with two gold men’s masks finals that join the body of the vase. Two multicolored hand painted coats of arms of a noble Italian family featuring an armor with red, rose, green and yellow feathers and a rampant lion are painted at the very centre among the gold painted foliage both framed by an oval gilt band.
