Neoclassical Style Bronze Mounted Hand Painted Porcelain Urn

This is a large and heavy Sevres French bronze mounted porcelain lidded urn. It is hand painted in a white background. It depicts three winged cherubs that are seated in a large rock ( one is holding a feather pen, the other one is thoughtful while observing straight forward, a third one is looking into a wood box) there is a fourth one that is flying while holding a large basket filled with roses and a fifth one that is holding a garland of roses. This Sevres style porcelain vase is beautifully painted with an image of Napoleon I on horseback. In this painting, Napoleon visits his men, some of whom are wounded, in what appears to be a military camp. He is seen, leading a group of mounted soldiers, on a white horse, respectfully doffing his bicorne hat to his troops. The painting is signed ‘F. Amblet’. This oval painting is given an elaborate gilded decorative border, reminiscent of a giltwood frame. These beautiful gold foliate patterns continue onto the base of the vase, as well as the top, where we see a pair of griffins.
