Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Sèvres Porcelain and Ormolu Lidded Urn
About the Item
A most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Sèvres Porcelain and ormolu lidded urns. Each urn is raised by a triangular porcelain base with concave sides and rounded corners. The base displays gilt bands and finely hand painted flowers. The three lightly curved supports display handsome hoof feet with acanthus leaves centering a striking twisted ormolu band and rosette. Above are three finely detailed bearded satyrs, likely Bacchus, with grape clusters in their hair and most decorative scrolled movements. The body display beautiful hand painted foliate, which is repeated on the removable lid, accented with an ormolu acorn finial.
