Pair Of French 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Bronze, Marble, & Ormolu Urns

About the Item

A stunning and most decorative pair of French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Patinated Bronze, Ormolu, and Rouge Griotte marble urns. Each impressive urn is raised by an octagonal Rouge Griotte marble base. The patinated Bronze socle above is decorated with mottled edges containing dentil style patterns and a central reserve of a beaded band around the tapered neck. Above the socle sits the circular bodies of the urns that have foliated dentil designs, a Vitruvian scrolled band around the upper rim, and two geometric Ormolu handles on either side. The foliate scrolled Ormolu handles have mottled edges and richly detailed acanthus leaves. Atop each handle is a bell shaped berried foliate finial. The urns display a smooth finished interior with a central rosette.
