About the Item
This is a rare piece of old Tamegrout pottery. Its characteristic natural glaze made of minerals, copper and barley powder has developed a unique mesmerising patina over the years.
These medium-sized jugs destined to store oil, generally olive oil, were designed with a pouring handle and a large rimmed spout.
The small pieces of clay visible on the jug's belly are the characteristic scars left on Tamegrout ceramics as they are tumble-stacked in the kilns, separated by stilts that are broken of after the firing.
Curated by Mādda.
