About the Item

This small McCoy cylindrical Butterfly vase is a stunning example of the company’s artistry, featuring a beautifully raised pattern of butterflies gracefully flocking to leaves. Finished in a soft, creamy white glaze, this piece exudes both elegance and timeless charm. The glaze application varies in thickness, creating subtle depth and texture, while general crazing throughout—a hallmark of McCoy pottery—reflects the handmade nature of the piece. Nelson McCoy Pottery, founded in 1910 in Roseville, Ohio, became one of America’s most beloved pottery manufacturers, producing both functional and decorative pieces. By the 1940s, McCoy had fully embraced nature-inspired designs, with butterflies, florals, and embossed botanical motifs becoming prominent in their collections. The Butterfly design, in particular, was a favorite among collectors, symbolizing transformation and natural beauty while showcasing McCoy’s expertise in raised relief patterns. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips or loss. The vase does have excess glaze at the bottom rim. This vase clearly bears the Nelson McCoy stamp on the bottom.
