About the Item
This vase demonstrates some of the best workmanship to have come out of the early 19th century in China. Made from carved rock crystal and set on a later giltwood base, the vase dates from the period when China was under the rule of the Jiaqing Emperor (1760-1820). The vase takes the form of a beautifully carved phoenix set on top of a carved giltwood base with scrolling acanthus feet and with a vase on top. The vase has a lid which features further carvings.
