19th Century Hand Painted French Porcelain Vase by Samson of Paris, circa 1890

About the Item

19th Century French Porcelain vase by Samson of Paris, Circa 1890 This highly decorative late 19th century French porcelain vase was made by the Samson factory of Paris. They produced decorative wares often copying earlier styles and manufacturers. This fine example is in the 18th century Chinese style. It has a narrow raised foot with a bulbous body and a tall slender flared neck. The whole is incised with vertical graduating segments which is then beautifully hand painted throughout with delicate floral panels in rich enamels which run continually around its perimeter separated with decorative bands in green, brown and gold highlighted and detailed with black and white enamel. The vase is finished with a plain gilt rim. There is a character mark on the underside this is a fake mark one of many used by this factory to add interest or confuse the collector. Dimensions: W 18 cm (7.1") x D 18 cm (7.1") x H 33 cm (13").
