Alberto Díaz de Cossío High Temperature Ceramic Bulged Vase

About the Item

A Mexican high temperature vase by Alberto Díaz de Cossío. Manufactured at the Taller Experimental de Cerámica in Mexico City (Experimental Ceramic's Workshop). The bulged vase with narrow neck in orange shows green and ochre colors. A one of a kind vase signed with the ceramist's iconic "bull", dated 74 and with 1 / 1 series. Taller Experimental de Cerámica began in 1962, when Alberto Díaz de Cossío (1935 - 2022) began a small workshop at his father's house in colonia Roma. In 1964, he moved his workshop to his house in Coyoacán, where he built his first oven. His workshop at Centenario street, founded in 1967, was on of the first high temperature ceramics manufacturers in Mexico. The Taller currently manufactures different everyday use and artistic ceramic works. It also holds classes for amateur and professional potters. Díaz de Cossío has been responsible of creating more than 20 community projects around the country, creating interest and commercial growth for high temperature ceramics in Mexico.
