Antique Bohemian Cranberry and Applied Amber Glass Pedestal Vase

About the Item

This antique chalice shaped cranberry pedestal vase is unmarked but believed to have been made in Bohemia in circa 1880. This footed vase is quite unique in that it has applied or draped deep orange or amber colored glass around the rim, center portion and base. The applied accents around the rim was done such that it appears as controlled drips down the side of the vase, and then the vase was inverted and done with the same technique around the center in two rows resulting in this draped application appearing to to go up and down the sides from the rim and body of the vase. The applied glass around the base is done in a ruffled pattern and the pedestal has a cranberry cut to clear diamond shaped pattern cut into it that accents the ruffled applied edge.
