Antique Italian Terracotta Urn with Roosters in Majolica, 18th/19th Century

About the Item

A neoclassical style Italian urn, vase or hydria in terracotta earthenware. Handdecorated in Majolica glazes depicting fighting roosters. One to each side. Remarkably this one has painted wooden handles. It is hand-marked to its base 1785/Italie. Besides a well-done glue-repair (photo 8) its condition is good and it will hold water if needed. Measurements: H: 23 cm, W: 22/13 cm.
