Art pottery carafe or vase from Drejargruppen for Rörstrand, Sweden.

About the Item

A vintage Swedish pottery carafe from 1970s, with a timeless shape, from Rörstrand. It is simple, but also very elegant and a beautiful decoration which makes it very special. This is vintage pottery at its best, one can see traces from Scandinavian design from the 70s sleek, understated, yet it is also timeless and simply stunning, the glazing is so simple, a sandy or pale grey color with a speckled effect and some circles all in a warm brown color. It has a very rustic and handmade feeling and can be used as a wine carafe or as a vase. The price includes free shipping. It is 25cm (9.84") high and around 15cm (5.90") in diameter and in a great condition. Drejargruppen was an artist ceramic collective that worked in Rörstrand, Sweden during the late 1960s and 1970s. The members of the group were never published at that time, but the estate was signed only with the word Drejargruppen. The turning group was marketed as "An ordinary group of people with an unusual amount of art in their fists". The objects are typically seventies with pottery-like decorations, painted ribbons and solid chamotte style, with a for its time typical glazing making all their objects both functional as well as ceramic art objects and other forms of interior design objects such as mugs and vases. Drejargruppen's products were in time and with their consumer-friendly style, the collections became one of Rörstrand's sales successes in the late 1960s and 1970s. Some of the members of the turn group were: the turners Sylvia Leuchovius, Robert Weidinger and Arne Käll. Gösta Millberg was a decorative painter. Today their work is viewed as very unique, due to the background, as well as the distinct modern Scandinavian design. Rörstrand porcelain was one of the most famous Swedish porcelain manufacturers, with production initially at Karlbergskanalen in Stockholm, Sweden. Formed as a company in 1726, Rörstrand soon became one of Sweden's largest ceramic factories. They have, over the years, manufactured and produced many well-known items and managed to be one of the most famous brands in the world, when it comes to both aesthetically as well as functional ceramic goods. Very much due to some of their famous designers such as Hertha Bengtsson, Gunnar Nylynd, Carl-Harry Stålhane, Marianne Westman, Bertil Wallien, Olle Alberius, Inger Persson and  Ulla Procopé. During the 1960s and 70s Stig Lindberg and Lisa Larsson created some timeless art ceramic interior design objects in forms of art objects, figures and vases.
