About the Item

Glass vase with enameled decor small bells blue and green. 1910 Wiener Werkstätte Austrian vase with polychrome Enameled decoration. Probably a creation of Joseph Hoffmann (1870-1956) co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte. In very good condition. Height : 25,5 cm Diameter of the foot : 8,1 cm Diameter of the neck : 10,6 cm Weight : 440 gr Joseph Hoffmann, Austrian architect born December 15, 1870 in Pirnitz – Died May 7, 1956 in Vienna. It represents the hinge between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. One of the precursors of modern architecture, who gave the rational principles of Otto Wagner, of whom he was a disciple, an increase in elegance and refinement. He studied architecture at the University of Vienna before moving to Italy, which gave him a clear, geometric style, reinforced with ornaments. His subsequent achievements of villas, exhibition halls and workers' housing clearly escape the major currents of architecture to achieve extreme purity and austerity. He was the creator of the Viennese Sezession with Gustav Klimt.
