Axel Salto (1889-1961), was a Danish painter, graphic designer, illustrator and ceramic artist. Today is known as one of the finest masters of 20th-century modern ceramic art. He collaborated with the manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl, later with Carl Hallier at his Frederiksberg studio, then briefly with Saxbo ceramics, and finally with Royal Copenhagen, where he was a designer from 1933 until the 1950s.
