Blue Ceramic Cylinder Vases Set by Groeneveldt

About the Item

A set of ten studio ceramic cylinder vase of various heights in turquoise tones created in 3 different glazes produced in the 1960's. Pieter Groeneveldt ((1889-1982), born in Batavia, the former Dutch Indies. Groeneveldt was a Dutch artist and ceramist who worked and produced for the greater part of the twentieth century. He attended the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam at around 1914, the young Groeneveldt developing artistic skills in a painting and sculpting and eventually ceramics. During this time artists and crafts people were influenced and inspired by the techniques and simplicity design of the Far East. Groeneveldt's ceramic work later became celebrated for his use of glazes, turquoise blue, or a soft pinkish white were his best known. These variations of color were created by the layering of one glaze over another. Measurements of the individual vases are; D10cm x H23cm D10cm x H20cm D8cm x H17cm D7cm x H14cm D5cm x H8cm.
