Hans Hedberg (1917–2007) was a Swedish ceramicist and artist, internationally renowned for his large-scale ceramic fruit sculptures and innovative glazing techniques.
Hedberg moved to Biot, a small village on the French Riviera, where he established his ceramic workshop. There, he experimented with glazing and firing techniques that gave his works a unique luster and surface texture. His creations were often colorful and featured a style that combined traditional ceramic techniques with a modern, almost sculptural approach.
Hans Hedberg became particularly known for his monumental ceramic sculptures of fruits such as apples, pears, and oranges. These works can be as large as one meter in diameter and are displayed today in museums and private collections around the world. Hedberg was fascinated by the forms of nature, and his works often convey a sense of both realism and abstraction.
During his time in Biot, Hedberg collaborated with several prominent artists, including Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, who were also active in the region. Hedberg's works are exhibited at institutions such as the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet, and the Musée National de Céramique in France.
