About the Item
A rare and elegant pair Burmantofts Faience art pottery handled ewer shaped vases decorated in turquoise glazes and dating from around 1890. These stunning earthenware vases stand raised on a small narrow round pedestal foot with an egg-shaped body and with tall narrow, slightly tapering, necks with simple round openings. The feet have unglazed flat ground rims. An angled flat top handle is applied to the body and is attached to the lower neck. The vases are decorated in bright, turquoise-streaked glazes and the vases are marked BF to the base and numbered 402.
Provenance: From a small collection of Burmantofts acquired from a single source and acquired from the UK Art Market
In excellent condition without loss or damage. There is a tiny edge fleabite which may have been touched over on one and mentioned for absolute accuracy.
