Celadon Craquel Glazed Swirl Design Studio Pottery Vase Signed
About the Item
A stylish studio pottery vase decorated with swirl patterning under a celadon craquel glazed finish and marked RB to the base and dating from the 20th Century. The stoneware vase is heavily potted standing on a narrow round unglazed foot with a recessed base and is of squat rounded shape with a narrow raised pointed opening cut at an angle. The body if the vase is decorated with an incised swirl pattern repeated around the body of the vase and is decorated in celadon green glazes with a craquelure finish with small splashes of tenmoku glaze possibly from another vessel fired simultaneously in the kiln. The vase has a hand incised RB mark to the base.
Provenance: from the private collection of Belgium based collector.
In good condition with some natural firing defects within the glazed finish.
