Ceramic Floor Vase, by Grimstrup, Signed E.J, 1937 – Abstract Cubist Design
About the Item
Large Unique Floor Vase from Grimstrup Ceramics, Signed "E.J 1937"
Height: 58 cm (22.8 inches).Diameter top / bottom : 33 / 19 cm.
This exceptional and rare ceramic floor vase is crafted with a beautiful glaze in shades of blue, yellow, and natural white. The decoration features an abstract, cubist style, characterized by geometric shapes, curved lines, and stylized patterns. Its design was innovative and experimental for 1937, offering a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic that remains striking nearly 90 years later.
The interior is finished with a deep blue glaze that contrasts beautifully with the subdued tones of the exterior. Its large size and slender form give the vase an elegant and monumental presence, making it a true statement piece.
This vase is likely a unique and early work from Grimstrup Ceramics, a Danish ceramic workshop originally based in Næstved.
The company gained recognition for its mid-20th century production, led by Hans Axel Schjelde, who began his career as a ceramicist at the age of 54 after years as a baker. Grimstrup Ceramics operated from the 1950s onwards, later moving its workshop to Maribo in the 1970s.

Beautiful elegant figurative terracotta vase by Hans Wagner design Dutch ceramic.
Excellently designed Hans Wagner vase with stylistic blue floral and women's decor.
This decor is definitely one of Hans Wagner's most beautiful designs. The vase has a very nice 1960's look.
