About the Item

This striking ceramic piece exemplifies the sculptural approach of Gisbert and Barbara Haberland, whose works from the 1970s explored the boundary between functional form and pure abstraction. The dark-toned glaze, smooth yet architectural lines, and enigmatic cut-out lend the object a powerful presence. Both vessel and sculpture, it reflects a poetic minimalism characteristic of the era. About the artists: Gisbert & Barbara Haberland are German ceramicists known for their experimental work from the 1960s and 1970s, often blurring the line between decorative art and modern sculpture. Their ceramics are distinguished by architectural forms, restrained palettes, and a focus on material authenticity.
