A mid-century tiki face vase by artist duo Charles and Alice Smith known as Chalice. This vase has alternating incised tiki silhouettes with brick red, gray and olive green vertical stripes on a coarse matte charcoal exterior. This interior is high gloss gray. A well crafted piece from 1950s California.

Catalina Pottery (or Catalina Island Pottery) is the commonly used name for Catalina Clay Products, a division of the Santa Catalina Island Company, which produced brick, tile, tableware and decorative pottery on Santa Catalina Island, California. Catalina Clay Products was founded in 1927 by William Wrigley, Jr. of the Wrigley chewing gum family. He built a tile and brick pottery factory on a beach located near Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. The new pottery became Catalina Clay Products, a division of Wrigley's Santa Catalina Island Company. The pottery used local clays from the Island and had two business purposes: to produce clay building products and to provide the much needed year-round employment for Island residents.
