Christina Muff (born 1971), contemporary Danish ceramic artist. One-of-a-kind vase shaped using the ancient pinching technique. The vessel is an organic round shape and is covered in a gauze looking matte, white glaze with darker areas of black porcelain underneath. Date: 2023 Signed and dated. Perfect condition. Dimensions: H 35.0 cm x D 33.0 cm. Christina Muff handcrafts her clay sculptures using ancient techniques such as slab building and coiling. Large surfaces of clay are slowly shaped into detailed sculptures with complex, naturalistic forms. It is a time-consuming process, as the sculptures—due to their size—require a long drying period before being fired, often multiple times, to achieve the desired texture and color. During the glazing process, she uses a variety of techniques in combination with natural materials such as sand, chalk, and locally dug clay from Denmark. The goal is to create textures and surfaces that resemble man-made objects reclaimed by nature. Christina Muff, contemporary ceramicist (b. 1971), studied Design at the Margrethe School in Copenhagen in the 1990s and later at the TEKO Center in Herning. Throughout her career, Christina has worked with a range of media including visual art, textiles, graphics, and fine metal jewelry. After achieving commercial success with jewelry and graphic design (Kortkartellet), she now considers clay her primary medium. As an independent artist, Christina has lived and worked in various countries, including the USA, Saudi Arabia, and several places in Europe. She is now based in Copenhagen, where she has established her ceramic studio.
