About the Item
A stunning handblown vintage crystal vase known as "Spun" from Skruf, Sweden signed by the talented Bengt Edenfalk. This vase is really special, he has spun clear glass around a cylinder shaped crystal vase, which is giving a very special effect. Yet it is the color which makes this vase so beautiful, it fades from a dark smokey grey at the top part to clear crystal at the base. His design for this vase is very much in keeping of his tradition, bold yet still with grace.
It is 22.5 cm high (8.85") and 8cm (3.14") in diameter at the base, note that this object is rather heavy it is in a good condition, yet there are some abrasions underneath it which makes the signature hard to see. The price includes free shipping.
Bengt Edenfalk (1924-2016), was a Swedish glass designer, painter, graphic artist and sculptor, he was also involved in interior design projects. Bengt Edenfalk graduated in 1945 and then practiced with Edward Hald at Orrefors glasbruk, Sweden. He studied at the School of Art in Stockholm 1947-52. He was Skruf's Glassworks' first artistic designer. There he designed more than 70 different tableware and art glass pieces. Such as Corona, Skandia, Old Sweden, Puck and Bellman, among others, which today is viewed as vintage and retro classics. He worked at Kosta Boda glasbruk, Sweden 1978-89. Then as a freelancer at Strömbergshyttan and in Wilke Adolfsson's studio glassworks in Orrefors.
Skruf's glassworks is located in Skruv in Lessebo, Sweden. The factory was established in 1897. The production has mainly consisted of tableware and ornamental glass in potassium and full crystal pulp. The glassworks were closed down in 1981.
