Derek Clarkson Studio Pottery Abstract Painted Bud Shape Vase
About the Item
A good and finely made studio pottery bud shaped vase decorated with abstract designs on a celadon glazed ground by renowned potter Derek Clarkson (British, 1928-2013) dating from the 20th Century. The heavily made hand-thrown vase stands raised on a narrow round unglazed pedestal foot with distinctive tooling marks extending up the lower body. The vase has a wide round bud shaped body and is thickly glazed in green celadon like glazes with abstract colored designs in blue, mustard and red glazes applied to two sides. The inner vase is similarly glazed and the vase has an impressed DC potters mark applied to the edge of the foot.
Provenance: from the collection of a private gentleman and originating from the UK art market.
