Derek Davis Studio Pottery Glazed Bottle Shape Bud Vase
About the Item
A finely potted bottle shaped bud vase decorated in blue glazes by renowned Sussex based potted Derek Davis (British, 1926-1908) and dating from around 1960. The heavily made hand-thrown stoneware vase stands on a narrow round unglazed foot rim with slightly recessed base with a wide squat round body and tall slender neck narrowing to a small round opening. The body of the vase has been decorated with a blue linear pattern, probably applied on a wheel and over applied with reddy colored oxidised glazes. This stunning little vase has a black Davis signature mark to the base.
Provenance: from the collection of a private gentleman and originating from the UK art market.
