Klaas acquired this as a modeller at Plateelbakkerij De Distel in Amsterdam, Jacob as a pottery painter at Brantjes in Purmerend. The decorative and functional pottery that the brothers market is simple and graceful in shape, and features stylized decors such as flowers and butterflies. In 1907 the brothers founded the Arnhemsche Fayence factory. The Arnhemsche Fayence Factory (1907-1934). They started with old plaster molds. The work was closely related to Rozenburg and South Holland. Around 1915, the Arnhemsche Fayence factory took a different path with pottery for which Persian decorative motifs served as a source of inspiration. The Decor Elrakka, refers to this. The factory was finally closed in 1946
