Flower Vase, Cachepot, Gerwing & Stephan, Bodenbach, 1880, Bohemia, Czech Rep

About the Item

Impressive flower vase by Gerbing & Stephan, Bodenbach, a well known ceramics manufacture in Bohemia. This model was only produced till 1906, so it has to be made before. This wonderful vase is over and over decorated, a very impressive green glazed ceramic. The oval base is stepped and the oval body of the vase rests on it with the four legs that are shaped like goat's feet and eagle claws. Above it is floral decoration and a masterly designed medallion with putto. On the side as a decoration and as a handle are two griffins, which are impressively freely designed. Above this is an impressively three-dimensionally designed curtain decoration. Measurements: height: 34,5 cm - 13,58 in, width 26 cm - 10,24 in, depth 17 cm - 6,69 in. The vase is designed all around and can be set up freely. A very impressive vase that can be used for freshly cut flowers as well as dried flowers. In addition, it can also be set up in a narrow place thanks to its oval, elongated shape.
