ALL PIECES ARE MADE TO ORDER
This collection of vessels is inspired by striated landscapes caused by glacial erosion as well as the beautiful colors found in foliated metamorphic rock.
Though often thought to be either ceramic or glass, these pieces are neither. Graham has designed a unique process for creating these pieces. Each drip vase is hand-cast with hydrocal plaster inside of a unique balloon shape. The interior of each piece is poured with layers of resin, making it waterproof. Finally, each drip vase is hand-dyed by the artist with layer after layer of custom mixed pigments and then sealed with a UV resistant acrylic coating.
These vases are all handmade and will vary slightly in shape, size, color and pattern.
MEET OUR TEAM
Elyse Graham is the founder and creative director of the studio. Driven by Elyse’s unique vision of building a studio that fosters and emphasizes connection, play, and experimentation (of people, processes, and in turn the objects created and shared) our small team works closely and collaboratively on each project.
Elyse received a BA in sculpture and semiotics at Brown University. After years of making sculpture and running a business in jewelry design, Elyse decided to merge her separate practices and redirect her attention toward collectible design in 2013. The creative trajectory of the studio is heavily influenced by Graham’s background in fine art, specifically her interest in process-driven and material-based artwork. The studio’s vocabulary of shapes, patterns, and forms comes from a lineage of unconventional processes Graham has developed and built for working with plaster and resin.
Graham shares her studio as well as her home with her husband, Lewis Mauk and their daughter, Eero.
Miller Robinson is head of our production department. From pigmenting and casting materials for all of our products in plaster and resin to graphic and production design, they wear many hats in our studio. Miller joined our team in 2014 and has been an integral part of designing many of our experimental processes that have lead to the creation of our unique MetaMATERIAL.
Like Elyse, Miller has a background in material and process-oriented making, which led to an instant connection and collaborative understanding between the two. Miller received their BFA from Otis College of Art and Design with a focus on painting, installation, performance, and writing. Their individual art practice focuses on the preservation and potentialities of underrepresented histories and encompasses objects, garments, actions, tattooing, and books. Their personal work has been exhibited in Los Angeles at the Southwest Museum, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Heritage Square Museum, and with Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), as well as HORESEANDPONY Fine Arts in Berlin.
Lewis Mauk is our studio and operations engineer. Working on facilities and production design as well as engineering and leading all of our large-scale constructions and installations, Lewis’ unique set of technical skills gives form and structure to our studio’s unconventional ideas and processes. Lewis has been working behind-the-scenes since the creation of the studio but joined our team full-time in 2020.
Consistent with the rest of our team, Lewis has a background in process-driven fine art and has extensive training in woodworking, printmaking, and photography. He received a MFA from CalArts and has worked across the fields of education and fabrication. Lewis’ combined interest in the creation of personal archives mixed with his commitment to sustainable life practices, has brought a focus and important emphasis on designing studio projects and processes that imagine ways to reduce and reuse studio material fragments.

Galerie Philia
Galerie Philia is an international contemporary sculptural design and art gallery representing emerging and established designers and artists. The gallery is the brainchild of two brothers who share a lifetime passion for art, literature and philosophy. Their distinct academic background sets them apart from their peers, as it sees them following a rhizomatic and transcultural approach in the way they select works. This involves combining elements from multiple cultures in what becomes a network of harmoniously interconnected roots, ultimately revealing the beauty of each unique creation. The gallery’s non-hierarchical curation sits apart from the ephemerality of trends and focuses instead on the true aesthetic quality of the piece – alluring and timeless. Unlike others, Galerie Philia does not focus on a single style – whether minimalist, organic or raw – but rather embraces heterogeneity. The Galerie Philia takes pride in discovering new talents, providing them with multiple international platforms to showcase their latest creations. As well as propelling the newest generation of 21st century collectible design, Galerie Philia also works with internationally known design artists. Galerie Philia has a strong international presence, with galleries in Geneva, New York and Singapore. In addition to their permanent spaces, the gallery organizes temporary group exhibitions and artists residencies in first-class locations around the world.

Contemporary Gradienti Vase Medium, Neutral Grey-Lime by Laura Sattin
Located in 1204, CH
The collection called ‘Gradienti’ is inspired by the infinite colour nuances of the sky. The technique used to make these vases is called ‘sfumato’, where the goal is to achieve imperceptible transitions between hues of soft colours.
Because of the unpredictable behaviour of the colours during melting and during the hot working pro- cess, every vase is different: sometimes the transition from one colour to another is perfectly smooth, other times you can read a clear transition, a kind of horizon. This unpredictable component is what makes each vase unique.
To make a piece, two colours of molten glass are combined at the beginning of the glass-making process. They are then dipped in an extra thin layer of transparent glass and mouth-blown into a wooden mould. Finally, the opening of the vase is shaped freehand.
After cooling overnight in the kiln, the vases are sandblasted and waxed giving the pieces a satin, smooth and soft surface.
Gradient mouth-blown glass, fading from steel blue to warm grey, sandblasted and waxed.
