Huge Modernist Bauhaus Pitcher and Bowl by Hayno Focken 1930 Burg Giebichenstein

$4,640.25per set

About

Huge and very rare pitcher with handle and a three-sided round bowl with stand designed by Hayno Focken around 1932 and executed by the Kunstgewerbeschule Burg Giebichenstein, Halle an der Saale in Germany. The pitcher which is 68,5 cm / 26.97 inches tall ! and 29 cm / 11.42 inches wide at the widest point, is made of handcrafted brass with a hammered surface structure. The bottom is marked “HF“ for Hayno Focken and additional the number 938. This rare piece is wonderful manufactured with a nice warm patina. It has no dents or significant scratches. After years it stays in very good original condition with little signs of wear consistent with age and use. The three-sided round brass bowl which has a width of 31 cm / 12.20 inches and which is 7.5 cm / 2.95 inches tall, has a smooth inside and a hammered structure outside. Signed with artist monogram “HF” at the bottom, the triangle bowl stays after years in very good original condition, too. The inside of the bowl only shows few minor spots, no dents or significant scratches. This whole package is a rare highlight. The pieces offered here, can be found in the Bröhan collection Berlin, Metallkunst der Moderne, page 166, or a Bauhaus museum.
