Important French 60's Glazed Ceramic Vase by Max Idlas

About the Item

Important French 60's glazed ceramic vase by Max Idlas (1932-2019). Signed. Born in Marseille in 1932, the self-taught Idlas opened his first pottery workshop in Montmartre, Paris in 1954. In 1964, he moved to Brittany, setting up his ceramic and painting workshop in a former charcoal factory. Connoisseurs often compare his glazes to those of the Cloutier brothers or Georges Jouve. Collectors and gallery owners are showing increasing interest in his work and prices are gradually rising.
