Isak Isaksson White & Brown Chawan Tea Bowl in Box, Contemporary Ceramicist
About the Item
A beautiful brown & white chawan bowl or tea bowl with a shino glaze designed by the contemporary Swedish artist Isak Isaksson in his own studio. The bowl is 11 cm in diameter and 7 cm high and in mint condition. These bowls is primary used for tea drinking, and to combine Isaks different chawans is just a lovely way of serving tea. But of course it can likewise be used as a serving bowl. Isak is one of the most well known contemporary ceramic artists in Sweden. This chawan comes in a special made wooden box of French walnut, black oak and apple tree.
Isak Isaksson was born in 1949 and is one of Sweden´s leading contemporary ceramic artists. Isak has become a master in throwing and a specially in glazing. Isak has been exhibit numerous of times all over the world and in 2019 he received the title of certified ceramic master – the highest recognition in Swedish pottery. He is a master of the crystalline glazes which makes his artworks really unique. Isak is the only westerner who has received the Sen Hounzai Soshitsu Prize in Japan for his chawan.
