About the Item

Jaca Vase No. 17 in Petrol Blue Organic Textured Ceramic by Hanna Englund Dimensions: D 27 x W 28 x H 44,5 cm. Materials: Ceramic. Large vase with an organic textured exterior. This piece can be used as a sculptural complement to any space or as the perfect vase for fresh or dried flowers. The Jaca Vase celebrates the organic forms of nature and highlights the beauty of its imperfection. The JACA collection is an ode to nature, and the pieces are made from the fruit itself, immortalizing this very popular fruit in the Brazilian imagination, presenting unique pieces in their shape, texture, and structure. Just like actual pieces of fruit, every piece is unique. Handmade in Rio de Janeiro Watertight, functions well as a flower vase. Hanna Englund is a Swedish ceramic artist based in Rio de Janeiro. Hanna creates timeless and sensual shapes with the intention of them lasting a long time. With a career in fashion and product design, based in Stockholm and Shanghai, her love of creation has always been an important part of her life. When she moved to Brazil and started a family, she decided to pursue her new passion for ceramics, which became the starting point for a new creative direction. Hanna Englund's work is a reflection of the diverse influences that Rio de Janeiro has had on her, combined with her Scandinavian heritage. Clean and minimalist, but also bold and expressive. She focuses on hand-built and sculptural forms inspired by the human body and the organic forms found in the natural world. A signature element in her practice is the use of molds made from tropical fruits, such as jackfruit, adding texture and symbolic form. Hanna creates ceramic sculptures and vessels using traditional methods, hand-building using coils and slump molds rather than a wheel, then slip casting these original forms. Her line of vases is designed for minimal floral arranging or to stand on their own as sculptural objects. Each piece has a unique expression and is made by hand in Hanna’s studio in Rio de Janeiro.
