About the Item
This is an old, large, paper-covered Pottery vase made in Japan.
It dates from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s).
This large Pottery vase was used to transport and store tea leaves.
It is covered with paper to protect it from moisture.
Due to age and years of use, the surface is worn and the paper is peeling in places, but it is as beautiful as an abstract painting. It is truly a decadent beauty.
The paper may be tilted depending on the angle you look at it.
Very fortunately, this Pottery Vase is in beautiful condition with no cracks.
Please note that it cannot be filled with water.
This Pottery vase evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
It is understated, humble, unconventional, and the opposite of vulgar.
It is a unique and extremely rare item.
